[Action A - Around Mayfield, December 26th]
[It's been a rough couple of weeks for everyone, but at least things seem to have settled down now.  Kono's hoping to never spend another Christmas in Mayfield, not if she has something to do about it.

Today, though, she's spreading a little bit of cheer.  In her stocking she got a few sweets, but also two small leis.  One she's keeping for herself, and she's wearing it around her neck.  The other she has taken apart to bring flowers to the people she knows around Mayfield.

If you've met Kono during her stay so far, she's coming to your door with a smile and a flower, just for you.]

[Action B - 463 Stone Street, later on December 26th]
[Now that it's not freezing to the point of being unbearably cold, Kono's finally venturing outside to play a bit with the snow.  On the snow day she had a chance to make a snow angel, but now she's taking time to build a snowman in her front yard.  She hasn't gotten very far yet, but feel free to stop to talk or help.]

[He takes it, smells it and pretends to swoon slightly.] You sure know how to treat a girl. Helps, when you actually are one, I imagine. And thanks for this.

Speaking of treating girls well, can I treat you to some hot chocolate when you finish up here? I'm new in town, could use a guide.

Sure, if you let me buy my own. It'll be good to warm up after being outside. Just one more flower to deliver a couple houses down to Peter and I'll be done.

That's actually fine with me, turns out I'm nearly broke. Looks like now I can eat there, too. Goodie for me!

Peter, huh? Who's that? Significant other?

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, he's married. But we've kind of stuck together while we've been here. Support system.

Don't you have a job? I thought you automatically got assigned something when you got here.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:30 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. Insignificant other, then. ...Semi-significant other.

Yeah, I heard about that... that is a thing they do, I guess. Not that I really paid attention to it. Someone told me I was supposed to report to a job yesterday, but I never showed up, and probably wouldn't have if I didn't learn of dronings. Man, wonder how long I could have gone, though...

[Tony looks up and meets her expression of disbelief.] Er, work isn't my forte. I'm more of a "brilliant idea" person than a "labor" one. I'm the CEO of my parent's weapons engineering company, y'see.

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:36 am (UTC)(link)

Weapons engineering? Wow. What does your company make?

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:47 am (UTC)(link)
Ah... FORMERLY, we designed different technologies for various fields: medicine, research, aeronautical, NASA... the problem is, that doesn't pay the bills, so we also sold some contracts to the military for advanced new weaponry.

That's all in the past, though. Stark Industries is severing its military ties.

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
That seems like an... odd choice for a weapons company. Unless you're going to help arm law enforcement instead? Even then, we don't order tanks and rocket launchers, so it wouldn't make as much money.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 06:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, "weapons company" is a little... that's not ALL we do, we just sell things to the military on the side to afford the innovations we bring to the other fiel-- y'know what? Not important. Let's just say I... had my heart opened up... and realized the consequences of some of Stark Industries' business dealings. It was not the kind of thing I wanted to be a part of any longer. I was called a Merchant of Death once. Not a nickname I particularly enjoyed. "Delightful" is much nicer.

Enough shop talk! Look at this -- you got all that out of me and don't even know your horoscope.

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
No problem, brah. Part of being in Mayfield is that you find yourself telling a lot about who you are and where you're from so that you can compare notes.

Well, let's see. I'm from Hawaii, which you've already figured out. Back home I'm a cop on a task force set up by the Governor.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 06:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Really? Sounds like you're a real Hawaii 5-0 detective! Buh buh buh ba BAAA baa... buh buh BAHH bahhhh...!

[Kono seems to not get the reference.]

The... y'know, the old TV show theme song?

.....cough

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)

We are Five-0. What TV show?

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
((I couldn't resist! That damn theme song!))

What? It was a TV show I saw growing up, in the 70's and 80's. Had a killer theme...so...

Did you say you ARE Five-0? Like... for realzies?

...That show was based on a real team? WOW! I should buy it on DVD, I'm genuinely fascinated now...

I wasn't alive in the '70s, so I doubt it's the same thing, brah. Whatever you're talking about.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 07:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I mean, I was still just a stressful nightmare-scenario in my dad's mind in the 70's, but when I was like six, they were showing re-runs. I really only remember the theme song and the basic plot. ...For the record, you're MUCH prettier than the cast I remember. Then again, they WERE all men. The compliment stands.

((reminds me of one of the funniest opening tags on the Office when Dwight fakes a fire drill and scares everyone half to death, others are injured trying to climb out windows or air vents, and on person is having a stroke or something, and then suddenly the chipper opening sequence starts playing...))

You really don't quit with the flirting, do you? Although you realize that one's almost backhanded right?

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 08:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I, uh... caught that one too late. Ever say something and wish you could just grab it out of the air before it gets heard? Like, "No, waiiiit....! Come back!"

That's happened to me, what, twice ever? Second time.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2011-12-31 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I couldn't help muddling that compliment. I got lost and confused in the complexity of your eyes.

Hah! How's THAT for a comeback?

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2012-01-01 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Ok preeeeetty good comeback, I guess.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 02:48 am (UTC)(link)
Thanks for patronizing me, that was awful and not worth repeating. So! I'll let you deliver your flower to Perry or whoever it was.

[identity profile] surf-n-makai.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 02:56 pm (UTC)(link)
Sure, and then hot chocolate. Later, Stark.

[identity profile] thecoolexec.livejournal.com 2012-01-02 07:38 pm (UTC)(link)
We'll work on that name thing...!
